Jack of Bladez's Guide To [red]C[/red][blue]O[/blue][green]L[/green][purple]O[/purple][navy]R[/navy][orange]S[/orange]
>>>Tips<<<
1.Never use default colors
2.Don't use 4 completely different colors
3.Use multiple shades of about 2 or 3 colors
4.Have Gradients To Match
5.Have all other images match as well
6.Customize your background colors with an image
7.Make sure link and Text colors are different colors
>>>Reasoning<<<
>DEFAULT COLORS - Default colors make your site appear to have little effort put into it. It makes others think that if your to lazy to customize colors then you will probaly be to lazy to help them or maintain a site.
>Don't Use 4 Different Colors - With 4 completley different colors, the colors will start to overlap and if you don't do it just right then you will not be able to read some text. Also keep in mind to not use too few colors or it will all blend together to completely hide the text
>Use about 3 Different Colors - The reason being, with one color on top of another, you have a better chance of having the text to be completley visable which really helps your forum look great!
>Gradients - Gradients help bring your forum together, since it is (hopefully) not just one basic color which looks very plain and most times unatractive.
>Images - Without images, your forum is basically nothing. Images make your forum attractive to visitors and it will help convince them to join your forum
>Background - IMO the best background is one that has an outline of your forum (see http://z102designs.proboards34.com) See how there is an outline that fits the length of the forum as well as having the background fit it together holding the outside color
7.Having Link and Text colors Different - The basic reasoning behind this is to help your members naviagate through your forum, if the text and link color are the same, then how can they tell what can direct them and what is just there as plain text.
